Interior Secretary Eduardo Año has ordered the Philippine National Police (PNP) to inspect quarantine facilities after the infamous Gwyneth Chua incident.
In a “Laging Handa” briefing, Interior Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya said the PNP was ordered to visit quarantine facilities randomly.
“Lumalabas nga na mismong hotel na ngayon ay in conspiracy with these individuals, nag-utos na po si Secretary Año sa ating kapulisan to do random visits sa lahat ng quarantine hotels sa buong bansa,” he said.
Malaya said the Department of the Interior and Local Government was put on high alert after Chua reportedly skipped mandatory quarantine and partied in Poblacion, Makati, before being found Covid-19 positive.
Fifteen of Chua’s close contacts have already been identified, of which seven tested positive for Covid-19.
Among her 19 secondary contacts, one caught the disease.
“Talaga pong naging superspreader event iyong paglabas-pasok nitong si ‘Poblacion Girl’ sa kaniyang quarantine hotel,” Malaya said.
