The Department of Education has extended the school year for all public elementary and secondary schools nationwide by a month.
The school year was supposed to end on June 11. DepEd’s Order No. 012 changed the last day of classes to July 10.
The order also specified that an intervention and remediation week would be held from March 1 to 12 based on the needs of learners as determined through assessments conducted in the first two quarters of the school year.
Teachers were also required to attend a professional development program through an in-service training organized by schools from March 15 to 19.
The third quarter of the school year will be from March 22 to May 15.
The final quarter will be from May 17 to July 10.
DepEd said the additional two-week period would be compensated by a similar adjustment in the school break between the ongoing school year and the next.
