The fatality rate from heavy rains caused by the combined effects of recent low-pressure areas (LPAs), shear line and northeast monsoon as “amihan,” has increased to 28, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).

The NDRRMC 6 a.m. situational report on Monday showed that eight deaths occurred in the Zamboanga Peninsula, while seven fatalities were logged each in Eastern Visayas and Northern Mindanao.

Five deaths were posted in the Bicol Region, while the remaining fatality was found in the Davao Region.

The NDRRMC also said 11 people were injured, while three more are still missing.

Meanwhile, a total of 1.397 million Filipinos, or 347,105 families, have suffered from the heavy rains.

Earlier, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said that the LPA and shear line will bring rains all over Metro Manila, Mimaropa (Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan), Bicol Region and Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon).
