DAVAO CITY – Residents in the  five political districts of Davao City have been treated to 10,000 pieces of a famous Filipino fried chicken brand as their reward for keeping low COVID-19 cases since the lockdown started in March.

Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio announced on Friday, May 29, the winning districts as Baguio District, Calinan District, Tugbok District, Toril District, and Marilog District.

The contest started when, on April 22, Duterte-Carpio offered the fried chicken meal reward to the districts that would be able to keep their COVID-19 cases low.

The distributions of the Jollibee Chickenjoy fried chickens were led by their respective barangay captains.

Each winning district received 2,000 pieces of the fried chicken with rice and drinks.  Strict physical distancing was observed during the distribution.

Duterte-Carpio hoped that the winning districts will keep their low COVID-19 cases.

“Sana ay wala nang madagdag sa mga positives ninyo. ‘Yan lang ang aking tanging wish ko para sa inyo (I hope your positive cases will not increase. That’s my only wish for you),” she said in a statement.  (Rommel F. Lopez)
