Tagum City’s Covid-19 Task Force confirmed that the city has its first community transmission after two residents tested positive from the deadly respiratory disease after getting in contact with the fish stall owner of the city’s public market who earlier tested positive from the disease.

Almost all of the city’s positive cases were from returning overseas Filipino workers or locally stranded individuals.

The first patient is a resident of who went to the city’s public market last August 29, while the second is a resident of Brgy. Canocotan, who went to the flea market of Brgy. San Miguel.

While contact tracing efforts are still underway, city officials continue to remind residents to strictly adhere to public health standards to stop the spread of Covid-19 in the city.

Last Friday, the city’s City Economic Enterprises Office reminded stall owners identified that had a close contact with the fish stall owner, from August 20 to September 1, were asked to submit themselves and the names of their stall helpers for contact tracing efforts.

In a video message posted in the city’s official Facebook page, Mary Grace Terante, City Economic Enterprises Office Manager, warned that those who would not comply with the directive will have their business permits revoked and they will be barred from selling in the public market.

As of September 14, the city currently has 6 suspect cases, 426 persons under monitoring, 83 confirmed cases and 68 recoveries with 1 confirmed death.  The city is under modified general community quarantine.
