The Department of Health (DOH) revealed Friday that 6 out of 8 Delta variant deaths were local infections.
Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said that Delta variant fatalities were found in these areas:
- San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte (one fatality)
- Balanga, Bataan (one fatality)
- Pandan, Antique (one fatality)
- Cordova, Cebu (two fatalities)
- Pandacan, Manila (one fatality)
Meanwhile, the other two deaths were all returning overseas Filipinos.
Vergeire added that the fatalities were aged around 27 to 78 years old and 5 of them were male.
Moreover, three of the said cases were unvaccinated against Covid-19, while five are still under verification.
“We are continuously validating and verifying,” Vergeire said during a briefing.
The Philippines has already recorded a total of 216 Delta infections. Ronald Espartinez
