A YouTube channel made the false claim that the Philippines was bombed by China due to tensions in the West Philippine Sea.
While tensions are high between China and the Philippines regarding the territorial dispute in the West Philippine Sea, there have been no reports of artillery weapons being fired by either country.
However, China’s Coast Guard has repeatedly used water cannons and dangerous maneuvers against fishermen’s boats and ships of the Philippine Coast Guard and Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, the latest of which happened on May 3.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. recently said that the Philippines would never use water cannons against Chinese ships.
The Philippines gained the support of different countries after a March 2024 incident in the West Philippine Sea.
As of March 26, 2024, the United States, the European Union, Japan, Australia, and 16 other countries have sent their messages of support to the Philippines over China’s actions in the West Philippine China Sea.
