The Department of the Interior and Local Government on Monday reported that more than 32.8 million Filipinos had registered for the country’s Covid-19 inoculation program.

Interior Secretary Eduardo Año said that to date, 32,804,034 Filipinos under priority lists A1 to C were included in the master list of Covid-19 vaccine recipients.

“Ito[ng 32.8 million] ay nakahanda nang mabakunahan. Inaasahan nating lalaki pa ang bilang na ito habang dumarami rin ang bilang ng mga Pilipinong nagpaparehistro para mapasama sa listahan ng mga mababakunahan sa mga darating na araw,” he said in a meeting with President Rodrigo Duterte.

The country has received 12,708,210 Covid-19 vaccine doses so far.

About half, or 6,948,549 doses, have been administered as of June 14.

Vaccine hesitancy is an issue of concern in the Philippines.

In May 2020, the Social Weather Stations found in a survey that willingness for vaccination is “1/3 yes, 1/3 unsure and 1/3 no.”

The Philippines has 1,879,694 individuals fully vaccinated against Covid-19.

Of the fully vaccinated individuals, 968,750 were medical workers, 479,034 were senior citizens, 424,889 were persons with comorbidities and 7,021 worked in essential services. John Ezekiel J. Hirro
