Davao del Sur was rocked by a 5.3 magnitude earthquake on Monday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.  

According to Phivolcs’ earthquake bulletin, the tremor was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 254 kilometers. It happened at around 10:06 a.m.

The epicenter was found 16 kilometers southwest of Davao City. 

The state quake agency added that Intensity III was experienced in Malungon, Sarangani, while Intensity II or “slightly felt” vibrations were felt in Don Marcelino and Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental.

Moreover, instrumental intensities were recorded in the following areas: 

Intensity II – Don Marcelino, and Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental; Santo Nino, South Cotabato

Intensity I – Alabel, Malapatan, Sarangani; Tupi, General Santos City, South Cotabato; Kidapawan City, Cotabato
