Two explosions rocked Sulu province on Tuesday, wounding one soldier who had responded to the scene.

The first of the two explosions occurred at 7:30 a.m. in Sitio Lungan Gitong, Igasan village, at Patikul town near the capital of Jolo, a military report said.

The military said security personnel deployed to guard the route of school teachers in Patikul responded to the scene. Police guarding the convoy of teachers also responded.

At 8:35 a.m., another explosion occurred, wounding a military personnel who was conducting a clearing operation.

Sulu has been on alert following suicide bombings at Jolo Cathedral on January 27 and a military camp in Indanan town on June 28. (PressONE.ph)
