The Tawi-Tawi Provincial Government confirmed 16 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections, 12 of which are healthcare workers, such as local doctors, Doctor-to-the-Barrios, and other health staff.
Eight of the Covid-19 positive health workers are doctors of Datu Halun Sakilan Memorial Hospital. All of these confirmed patients are now undertaking medical treatment and quarantine.
The Turtle Islands in the province also posted five new Covid-19 cases. Three of them are local residents of the islands while one patient came from Bongao island and one from outside the province.
The local government is currently conducting contact tracing in Turtle Islands to curb further local transmission. These confirmed patients were swabbed at the Philippine National Red Cross Molecular Lab, Zamboanga City.
The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao reported 1,031 confirmed Covid-19 infections in the whole region.
Among the total cases, 212 are currently active cases, 780 are recoveries, and 39 are fatalities.
