The 30.7-percent hunger rate in September 2020 was composed of 22 percent or 5.5 million families who experienced moderate hunger and 8.7 percent or 2.2 million families who experienced severe hunger.
Palace spokesman Harry Roque encouraged Filipinos to look at the bright side as he acknowledged results of a Social Weather Stations survey that saw 40 percent of adult Filipinos expecting the economy to worsen in the next 12 months.
“We understand this public sentiment considering that our government economists have mentioned that prior to Covid-19, the Philippines was among the fastest growing economies in the region, with low and stable inflation and lowest ever rates of unemployment, underemployment, and poverty. The coronavirus has indeed adversely affected our economy and people’s livelihood and business,” Palace spokesman Harry Roque said.
The assertion came after a survey by the Social Weather Stations (SWS), released on Friday, showed that 51 percent of adult Filipinos agreed that critical reporting under Duterte’s administration was “dangerous.”
Seventy-five percent of adult Filipinos expressed support for the franchise renewal of ABS-CBN. Only 13 percent disagreed, while 10 percent were undecided when asked if Congress should renew the network’s franchise, which expired on May 4.
