Veteran journalist Manuel ‘Manny’ Mogato

Veteran journalist Manuel “Manny” Mogato, who won the Pulitzer Prize for International Reporting in 2018 for his coverage of the Duterte administration’s war on drugs, has joined as editor-at-large, opening a new chapter in his 35-year career.

Mogato, a former Reuters correspondent, will write about politics, national security and diplomacy for, an independent news website covering the Philippines for the Filipino and global audiences.

Mogato has covered disasters, insurgencies and the military and defense establishments, and was cited by the Society of Publishers in Asia in 2013 for his reporting on Typhoon Yolanda and by the Human Rights Press Awards in 2017 for his coverage of the drug war. He has also been cited by the Union of Catholic Asian News and the Rotary Club of Manila.

Last year, Mogato also won the inaugural Roy Rowan Award for investigative journalism given by the Overseas Press Club of the Americas in New York. (
