EXO members tease fans with a behind-the-scenes look into  an upcoming music video for their comeback album.

K-pop group EXO surprised their fans with a special message on their ninth anniversary, giving a teaser on their long-awaited comeback.

The group shared a “birthday” post on their social media accounts on Thursday, followed by an “L-1485 spoiler.”

“For the first time in a while, all the members came together to film a music video. I’m so happy that I get to show even a little bit of it like this,” member Kai said.

The video showed six of nine members, Xiumin, D.O, Baekhyun, Chanyeol, Kai, and Sehun at the set of their music video filming. The group further teased the fans, with main vocalist D.O. dancing the choreography.

According to D.O, the location was inspired by an aircraft carrier and the background inscription E-408 refers to the group’s debut date: April 8th.

The group also explained that the new music video would be a continuation of their hit single “Power,” where the group was fighting a comical mecha-alien in a video game setting. EXO performed Power at the closing ceremony of the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics.

“The story is that after ‘Power,’ we went our separate ways,” D.O said, “but now we’re back together [through] teleportation.”

The album is Xiumin and D.O’s first official comeback after finishing their military duties.

This will be EXO’s first comeback in two years after the release of “Obsession” in 2019.

During EXO’s two-year hiatus, — four members Suho, Chen, Xiumin and D.O. — served their mandatory military service. Chanyeol enlisted in March.

Sehun and Chanyeol focused on EXO-SC (EXO’s second official subunit). Baekhyun and Kai meanwhile joined SuperM, a “supergroup” established by SM Entertainment in 2019 consisting of members from SHINee, NCT and WayV. Baekhyun and Kai also did solo works.

Six members — Chanyeol, Baekhyun, Suho, Chen, Kai, and Sehun — performed to packed crowds at the Mall of Asia Arena for a two-day concert in August 2019.
