The Office of the Vice President (OVP) announced on August 5 the opening of its fifth free dormitory service in Quezon City for healthcare workers and other frontliners battling the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Maliban sa apat na dormitories na ating binuksan noong magsimula ang lockdown—na hanggang ngayong buwan ay operational pa rin—magdadagdag pa tayo ng isang dormitory para sa ating frontliners sa Quezon City,” Vice President Leni Robredo said on her official Facebook page.
According to Robredo, Dorm 5 is located in Novaliches, Quezon City and is near Commonwealth Hospital, Far Eastern University Hospital – Marian Medical Arts Building, and Neopolitan General Hospital.
Given the limited number of beds per dorm, the free dormitory service is on a “first come, first served basis.”
“Dahil limitado ang ating espasyo, alinsunod na rin po sa social distancing measures, first come, first served basis ang pag-accommodate sa mga request,” Robredo said.
The OVP encourages health workers and frontliners to check their Vice President’s official Facebook account for further updates.
Apart from free dormitory services, the OVP has also raised funds to buy personal protective equipment (PPE), Covid-19 extraction kits, distribute food packs, and operate a free shuttle service for healthcare workers.
As of Robredo’s June 27 report, her office was able to allocate P53,872,950 million for PPEs, P7,992,500 million for food and care packages, P5,325,000 Covid-19 extraction kits, give medical supplies to 665 institutions, provide 12 dormitories in Metro Manila, and serve 11,429 frontliner passengers.
