Palace spokesman Harry Roque announced on Tuesday that food establishments can offer dine-in services until 9 p.m., provided they operate in limited capacities.

The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) issued Resolution No. 48 Monday, allowing restaurants, cafes and bars to operate at 30-percent capacity and requiring establishments to impose strict physical distancing protocols.

The resolution also applies to restaurants within clubhouses and similar establishments.

Roque said the extension of operating hours came after the shortening of curfew hours in some areas.

“Kasi nga po ang curfew ay binago na rin, hanggang 10 [p.m.] to 5 [a.m.] na po. So hanggang 9 [p.m.] na po ay pupuwede tayong mag-dine-in.,” he told reporters.

Customers were required to wear face masks and adhere to minimum public health standards.

The country’s shift to general community quaratine (GCQ) allowed for the gradual reopening of the food industry.

Dine-in restaurants in GCQ areas were allowed to reopen at 30-percent capacity last June 15, while those in modified GCQ areas have been allowed to operate at 50-percent capacity since June 1. John Ezekiel J. Hirro
