The Health Department reminds the public that vaping is not a safer alternative to smoking.
Department of Health (DOH) spokesperson Eric Domingo says aside from lung diseases, stroke and heart diseases have also been linked to vaping.
Domingo also reiterates the dangers of second hand vaping.
“Yung second hand vaping kasi ganun pa rin meron pa siyang laman na nicotine na pag nahinga mo ay maaaring pumasok sa sistema mo at yung mga chemicals na kasama nung ibinuga so meron pa rin itong harm,” he said.
Domingo warns retailers and manufacturers of vapes and E-juice that they must apply first for a license to operate and register with the Food and Drug Administration. He stressed that starting January 2020, the DOH will crack down on those who will fail to comply.
“By September, magtatanggap na tayo ng applications, and we are giving 3 months of transition period so October, November, December kapag naman hindi pa sumunod, hindi pa nagparegulate then by January magkakaroon na tayo ng karapatan na magsara, magconfiscate at mag-bawal ng mga produkto na hindi talga nirerehistro sa atin.” Domingo said.
