The Palace on Friday assured that Covid-19 vaccination would continue in areas placed under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).
Metro Manila will be under the most stringent lockdown from Aug. 6 to Aug. 20.
Gingoog City, Iloilo City, Iloilo Province and Cagayan de Oro will be under ECQ until August 7, 2021.
In a statement, Palace spokesman Harry Roque recognized the role of Covid-19 vaccination in curbing the spread of the virus.
“With the looming threat of Delta variant, there is no question that vaccination even in areas under ECQ classification is an imperative solution,” he said.
Roque said vaccinations would be ramped up in ECQ areas for both first and second vaccine jabs.
“Vaccinations are crucial to build a wall of defense against the Delta variant and to protect the population. Vaccinating individuals in this trying time is an essential health activity,” said the spokesman.
Roque also reminded vaccinators and vaccinees to adhere to public health protocols to further halt the spread of the virus.
“We have to ensure, however, that public transportation and vaccination sites would have mechanisms to implement minimum public health standards and that the public has to cooperate to ensure the health and safety of everyone,” he said.
