A total of thirteen fatalities were recorded in Iloilo and Capiz provinces after Typhoon Ursula barged into northern Panay Island last December 25. Six others are still missing.

A total of nine deaths were recorded from Iloilo and four in Capiz, according to the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC).

The missing individuals were from Pontevedra, Capiz (two), Passi City, Iloilo (one) and Batad, Iloilo (three).

The provincial governments of Capiz and Aklan declared a state of calamity last December 26. 

The local government units of Carles and Balasan in Iloilo and the municipality of Pandan in Antique also declared a state of calamity.

The RDRRMC documented a total of 5,717 evacuated families (21,956 individuals). These numbers came from the following provinces:

* Aklan – 259 families (1,272 individuals)

* Antique – 498 families (2,213 individuals)

* Capiz – 1,214 families (3,956 individuals)

* Iloilo – 3,643 families (14,515 individuals)

2,347 (8,722 individuals) families have already moved to evacuation centers while 107 families seek help with their relatives and friends, according to the reports by RDRRMC. (RJ Espartinez)
