Social media giant Twitter has suspended pro-Duterte accounts found to have been trolling users, The Washington Post reported on Thursday.

The Post said hundreds of pro-Duterte accounts were deemed to have anti-spam rules, such as by “posting duplicate content across multiple accounts, creating duplicate or multiple accounts, and sending large numbers of unsolicited replies or mentions.”

Troll accounts trended the hashtags #IStandWithDuterte and #OursDuterte in reaction to rival hastags #OustDuterte and #ICantStandThePresident last week.

On April 7, pro-Duterte users used a “script” expressing sympathy with the president and calling out critics, after he announced an extension of the Luzon-wide extreme community quarantine up to April 30.

“Naiiyak ako sa sinabi ng Pangulo kagabi. Nakaka stress isipin. Bakit ganito ang nangyayari. Kapag umabot ng 6 na buwan patay na tayo. Kahit nga 3 buwan eh iiyak na ang karamihan. Tama naman ang Pangulo eh marami ang Pilipino pasaway. Maraming sobrang reklamador,” multiple pro-Duterte trolls posted on social media.

(What the President said last night is making me cry. Why is this happening. If this lasts 6 months we’d be all dead. In just three months many people will cry. The President is right, many Filipinos are hard-headed. A lot of people are complaining too much,)
