As Typhoon Rolly continues to ravage southern and central Luzon, including Metro Manila, a new typhoon, Tropical Storm Siony, with an international code name “Atsani,” has entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA). 

PAGASA said in a statement that Siony was located at 1,365 kilometers east of Central Luzon with maximum sustained winds of 75 km per hour and gustiness of up to 90 kph.

It is moving west northwest at 30 kph, PAGASA added.

PAGASA added that Siony has no direct effect as of the moment in any part of the country.

Earlier, the state weather bureau announced that Typhoon Rolly, with an international code name “Goni,” weakened into a typhoon from a super typhoon as it exited Pasacao, Camarines Sur and moves towards Marinduque-Southern Quezon area this afternoon. RJ Espartinez
