The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda) has launched a free contact-tracing training program as the country raised the need for more contact tracers.
“Wala po silang babayaran at under po ito ng Tesda scholarship program po natin at libre po ito at wala po silang babayaran. At ito ay I think will only last for maximum of five days,” Tesda Deputy Director General Aniceto Bertiz III said in a virtual Laging Handa presser.
Bertiz said applicants must be 21 to 59 years old and at least high school graduates.
Online and face-to-face trainings comprise the course.
“Because of the learning modality ngayon, iyong dual training po natin, 80 percent ay online, iyong 20 percent po ang assessment.”
“Iyong face-to-face natin, tinuturo po ultimo iyong paghubad noong mga PPEs (personal protective equipment) kapag ikaw ay galing ka na sa field at nag-perform ka na ng trabaho mo, pati na rin po iyong mga disposal or how we can dispose all those or sanitize or clean our own PPEs,” Bertiz explained.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government earlier announced that at least 50,000 contract tracers nationwide would be hired after Bayanihan 2 was signed into law.
Nearly 100,000 contact tracers have been deployed nationwide since the Covid-19 pandemic broke out.
