The final segment of the Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX) project will open tomorrow, July 15, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said.

With the opening of the 11.45-kilometer Pozorrubio, Pangasinan to Rosario, La Union segment of TPLEX, travel time from Manila to Baguio will be shortened to three hours, and to La Union, three-and-a-half hours, said Anna Mae Lamentillo head of the DPWH “Build, Build, Build” committee in a July 13 briefing.

During the July 3 final inspection, Public Works Secretary Mark Villar said that about 20,000 motorists would pass through TPLEX daily.

He also said the 88.85-kilometer toll road would be extended further to San Fernando City, La Union within the year once details were finalized

The finished expressway has eight segments, namely La Paz, Tarlac to Victoria (Segment 1); Victoria to Gerona (Segment 2); Gerona to Paniqui (Segment 3); Paniqui to Moncada (Segment 4); Moncada to Carmen (Segment 5); Carmen to Urdaneta (Segment 6); Urdaneta to Pozorrubio (Segment 7); and lastly Pozorrubio to Rosario (Segment 8).
