A Facebook page falsely claimed that Senate Bill 1979, also known as the “Prevention of Adolescent Pregnancy Act of 2023,” would encourage and teach youth to be “sexually active.”
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has vetoed several provisions of the 2023 budget, including a revolving fund for the Department of Education (DepEd) TV project, which he said were not related to the newly approved appropriations and could amend substantive laws.
“I cannot disregard the fact that the PUP, despite its stature in our education sector, is but one of many state universities and colleges in the country,” President Duterte said in his letter explaining his veto on the new PUP charter, dated Sept. 4.
