Vegetable retail traders in La Trinidad Benguet continue to sell their produce amidst the significant drop in prices brought about by the low consumer demand when festivals and events were cancelled due to the 2019 coronavirus disease scare.
A local agriculture official dismissed fears of local farmers about the Fall Armyworm infestation in Negros Occidental saying it is “not alarming” however, the Bureau of Plant Industry warned that the pest has a high reproductive rate and is difficult to control as they have a natural tolerance to some insecticides.
