With holiday traffic expected to peak this week, SMC Infrastructure is advising motorists to plan their trips ahead to avoid lengthy delays and get to their destination safely.
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will redeploy traffic enforcers to areas covered by the no contact apprehension policy (NCAP) to make sure that motorists will continue to follow traffic rules.
The transport department on Saturday alerted motorists of next week’s road traffic flow adjustments to give way to construction work on the MRT-7 railway project.
“Let us clarify: mass transportation crisis is different from a traffic crisis. But of course, traffic and mass transport are interrelated,” Transport Assistant Secretary Goddes Hope Libiran told PressONE.PH in a phone interview.
“Tell me, Mr. Panelo, is there anything humane with leaving the house at 3:00 in the morning just to arrive on time at work? Is there anything dignifying with commuters cramming themselves inside trains with barely enough room to breathe just so they won’t receive salary deductions for tardiness?” Sen. Leila de Lima said.
