A Tiktok video featuring Philippine lawmaker Stella Quimbo’s audio discussing her proposal for a universal pension for senior citizens was misleadingly edited, falsely claiming that the proposal had been enacted into law.
Vice President Sara Duterte’s boycott of the House of Representatives’ second hearing on the Office of the Vice President’s (OVP) proposed P2 billion budget for 2025, was a “great insult” to the House and its mandate, a lawmaker said.
“Kaya po iyan nasa ilalim ng gobyerno dahil ang pagbigay po ng kalusugan ay isang karapatan ng taumbayan at obligasyon ng estado. Kapag binigay po iyan sa private na mga kumpanya, insurance po iyan,” Palace spokesman Harry Roque said.
Two economists at the House of Representatives — Joey Salceda of Albay and Stella Quimbo of Marikina — are proposing economic stimulus measures to revive the domestic economy after the enhanced community quarantine.
