Palace spokesman Harry Roque announced on Monday that an additional five million Filipino families would receive cash subsidies from the government’s social amelioration program, raising the total number of beneficiaries to 23 million.
The city council had passed a P2-billion supplemental budget as part of the local government’s Covid-19 response.
Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III said 85 out of every 100 Filipino families were covered by P256 billion in government subsidy programs for sectors most vulnerable to the economic impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
