The Supreme Court, sitting as the Presidential Electoral Tribunal, threw out last year the claim of Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. that he was cheated in the 2016 vice-presidential elections.
In a joint statement, Senators Franklin Drilon, Leila de Lima, Risa Hontiveros and Francis Pangilinan pointed out that under PET rules, the protest should be junked because Marcos did not overturn the results of the vice-presidential election in three pilot provinces subjected to a recount.
Vice President Maria Leonor Robredo will stay in her post whatever the result of the vote recount in three pilot provinces handpicked by ex-senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. in his electoral protest, Robredo’s lawyer said on Sunday.
