Speaker Lord Allan Velasco has submitted a bill pushing for a third installment of the Bayanihan Law, which would guarantee a P420-billion fund as part of the country’s recovery effort amid the economic downturn caused by the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.
“The 30th SEA Games showcased not only our local athletes at their best but also demonstrated our successful hosting of a world-class sporting event. Let us, therefore, not dishonor the men and women who gave honor and glory to the country by engaging in political innuendos and witch hunts,” Palace spokesman Harry Roque said in a statement.
“If the intention of removing me was to intimidate all those who remain loyal to former Speaker Cayetano, then they have miscalculated badly,” Villafuerte said.
Addressing the plenary for the first time as speaker, Velasco said he and Cayetano have already made amends. He also floated the possibility of appointing Cayetano as deputy speaker.
