The DOH said it has logged a total of 32 fireworks-related injuries from December 21 to 28. During the same period last year, the country only reported 23 cases.
The Philippines logged a total of 25 firework-related injuries as of Tuesday, according to Department of Health officer-in-charge Maria Rosario Vergeire.
Duterte earlier also floated his plan to ban fireworks nationwide in 2021, just like what he did in Davao when he was mayor.
In a Laging Handa briefing, MMDA General Manager Jojo Garcia said “house-to-house” lighting of fireworks would not be allowed to avoid the congestion of hospitals.
