The AFP said that from January to July 24, the military killed 95 regular NPA members in encounters, while 145 were apprehended and 5,788 surrendered. The military also killed 53 members of the kidnap and terror group Abu Sayyaf, while 24 surrendered and 12 were captured.
The Department of Education’s Davao Region spokesman said students of the suspended Salugpungan schools were ‘welcome to transfer to DepEd-run schools.’
The ‘Save Our Schools Network,’ a group of education and church NGOs, immediately condemned the DepEd order for failing to follow due process, and accused the department of being a ‘stamp-pad for the military.’
