A Tiktok video featuring Philippine lawmaker Stella Quimbo’s audio discussing her proposal for a universal pension for senior citizens was misleadingly edited, falsely claiming that the proposal had been enacted into law.
The Senate, voting 19-2, on Wednesday approved on final reading Senate Bill No. 1083, which toughens the law against terrorism and effectively repealing the Human Security Act of 2007.
Sotto said ‘false information continues to circulate and is becoming prevalent on the internet globally, and noted that Singapore, Russia, France and Germany had passed anti-fake news laws.
