Ninety-three percent of Filipinos will enter the new year with hope rather than fear, results of a Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey released on Wednesday showed.

The 93-percent mark was two points higher than in 2020, which was the lowest since 2009.

Seven percent of Filipinos will enter the New Year with fear, unchanged from 2020.

The survey was conducted from Dec. 12 to 16.

The respondents were asked: “Is it with hopes or with fears that you enter the coming year?”

The December 2021 survey was the second the SWS conducted amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

Mobility restrictions this year are more lenient compared with last year, given the country’s rising vaccination numbers.

As of Dec. 28, the Philippines has administered 107,277,506 doses and fully vaccinated 48,647,158 individuals. John Ezekiel J. Hirro
