The Office of Vice President (OVP) Leni Robredo denies the vice president said the nation is wrapped in darkness, we must bring life back to each Filipino, and she is ready to become president of the Philippines.

The OVP added that the quote itself did not mention when and where Robredo allegedly said the quote.

In an October 26 article, Rappler fact-checked the quote card and found it as fake news since there are no records of Robredo saying the full quote attributed to her.

Rappler found that the quote card was posted on the page “LABAN PINAS”, a pro Marcos, historical revisionist Facebook page, on Thursday, October 15.

Along with Vera Files, Rappler has been certified through a non-partisan International Fact-Checking Network to review news stories posted on Facebook, to fact check and rate their accuracy.

The OVP reminded the public to be very critical when reading content in social media and to immediately report to fact checkers like Rappler and Vera Files, if they saw any fake news posted in social media.

Rommel F. Lopez
