The Philippines on Wednesday received more than 3.5 million doses of the Sinovac Covid-19 vaccine, which completed the country’s order of 51,130,400 jabs from the Chinese manufacturer.

According to the National Task Force Against Covid-19, the government procured the 51 million Sinovac doses with the help of funding provided by the Asian Development Bank and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank.

Vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. welcomed the arrival of the 3,530,400 Sinovac jabs.

“More than 3.5 million doses of Coronavac Sinovac vaccines that arrived today completes the delivery of Sinovac-made jabs the national government procured through the Asian Development Bank and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank,” he said.

The Philippines has received over 54 million Sinovac doses since February. This makes up over 40 percent of the country’s total vaccine supply.

Chinese Ambassador Huan Xilian said China would donate two million Sinovac doses to the Philippines.

Beijing has so far donated two million shots of the Sinovac vaccine to Manila.

To date, 128,444,400 Covid-19 vaccine doses have been delivered to the Philippines. John Ezekiel J. Hirro
