The Philippines may start administering booster shots to senior citizens and immunocompromised individuals by December, vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. said on Wednesday.
Galvez said the government was still in the process of crafting guidelines for the distribution of booster shots for those under the A2 and A3 priority groups.
“Once na nailabas na ‘yon, we can start maybe even next week we can start already,” Galvez said.
“Ang pinaka-latest, isasama na natin siya sa national vaccination days,” Galvez added.
The country will have a three-day national vaccination drive from Nov. 29 to Dec. 1.
Galvez earlier said that the national vaccination drive would help the country increase the number of jabs administered, to vaccinate more Filipinos before the Christmas season.
About 15 million doses are expected to be administered in the three days.
The Philippines has administered over 70 million Covid-19 vaccine doses to date. John Ezekiel J. Hirro
