The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) is monitoring the case of two Filipinos who went missing at Freedom Beach in Phuket, Thailand on Wednesday.
In a statement, the DFA said Philippine Ambassador to Bangkok Mary Jo Bernardo-Aragon had coordinated with local authorities.
“The Royal Thai Police and a group of Filipino tourists reported the case,” the DFA statement said. Rescue operations began Wednesday and resumed Thursday.
The two Filipinos were reportedly at the beach during a heavy storm. There were said to have been swept away and were not seen since then.
Reports from Cotabato City and Bangkok, Thailand identified the two as Angelo Bien Rafael Cortez, 29; and Noah Ibay, 40. (Melo M. Acuña)
