Palace spokesman Harry Roque and Sen. Christopher “Bong” Go on Monday rejected former senator Antonio Trillanes IV’s plunder allegations against President Rodrigo Duterte and his long-time aide, calling them rehashed unproven claims.

In a YouTube video, Trillanes said construction firms owned by Go’s father, Desiderio Lim, and half-brother, Alfredo Amero Go, had secured P6.6 billion in public works contracts in the Davao Region during Duterte’s presidency and mayorship in Davao.

The firms Trillanes named were CLTG Builders, of which acronym matched the initials of Go, whose full name is Christopher Lawrence Tesoro Go, and Alfrego Builders.

“Ito naman po kasing si dating Senador Trillanes lumang tugtugin na po iyan. E binato na niya iyan kay presidente, kay Sen. Bong Go, hindi pa senador si Sen. Bong Go, wala naman siyang napatunayan noong siya ay nakaupo pa sa Senado,” Roque said.

Roque urged the former senator to press charges if he believed plunder was committed.

“Bakit pa siya maghihintay ng pagkatapos ng termino, isampa na po niya ngayon,” he said.

The Duterte spokesman also criticized Trillanes for picking media outfits as his sources for his claims.

“Ang problema kay Senator Trillanes, wala pong ebidensiya. Iyong mga ebidensiyang sinasabi niya laban kay Senator Bong Go – Rappler, PCIJ – eh wala naman pong tatanggap niyan,” Roque said.

It was not the first time the administration labeled allegations against Duterte as baseless for having media sources.

In June, Roque said the president merely shrugged off International Criminal Court (ICC) prosecutor Fatou Bensouda’s plan to probe the administration’s war on drugs, saying her report was built on media sources and “mere hearsay” and would not stand in court.

Go said the transactions Trillanes pointed out were legitimate and underwent proper procurement procedures in accordance with local laws.

Go has been Duterte’s assistant for about 23 years, or for 18 years with Duterte as Davao mayor and five years with his boss as president. John Ezekiel J. Hirro
