Executive Secretary Vic Rodriguez on Friday belied rumors that he had resigned from his post, saying he did not know they started.

In a briefing with reporters covering the Palace, Rodriguez said even he was confused about the rumors of his resignation.

“Even the messages I got this morning, essentially what they said I have resigned. But as you know […] I’m still here in my office,” he said.

Before he was appointed executive secretary, Rodriguez was the spokesman of now-President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

Rodriguez said he would only resign over health or family reasons.

“I don’t want to think about it. But, of course for health reasons. Of course, family reasons. That’s why I’m saying I don’t want to think about those reasons because I don’t want to get sick,” Rodriguez said.

Earlier Friday, Press Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles said there was no truth to the rumors of Rodriguez’s resignation.

“No,” she said after being asked about the executive secretary’s resignation. John Ezekiel J. Hirro
