Vice President Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo, who has hypertension and is under the A3 priority group of the government’s Covid-19 vaccination program, received her first AstraZeneca vaccine shot on Wednesday.
In a Facebook post, Robredo said got vaccinated with 17 other members of her staff who were persons with co-morbidities.
“Done with my 1st dose of the vaccine. Now being monitored. Everything has been seamless,” she wrote.
Health workers (A1), senior citizens (A2), persons with co-morbidities (A3) and the indigent population, overseas Filipino workers and other workers (A5) are eligible for AstraZeneca vaccines, which were provided by the Covax facility.
“Magbakuna na din kayo para protektado kayo at ang lahat ng nakakasalamuha niyo,” Robredo said.
The first dose of AstraZeneca’s vaccine has a 70-percent efficacy rate. The efficacy of the second dose has yet to be determined by the Food and Drug Administration.
The country’s two highest-ranking executive officials are now vaccinated.
President Rodrigo Duterte was earlier injected with the unregistered Sinopharm vaccine from China. John Ezekiel J. Hirro
