Vice president and presidential candidate Leni Robredo debunked anew claims thrown by some public officials that her camp is conspiring with communist rebels.
Robredo explained that the allegations involving her joining forces with the National Democratic Front, the Communist Party of the Philippines, and the New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) have no factual basis.
“Ito kasing red-tagging walang pinagmulan. Si Sen. Sonny ang unang sumagot nito, na of all people hindi siya papayag na magpa-infiltrate kami, hindi siya papayag na makipag-coalesce kami sa CPP-NPA,” she said.
Former Sen. Antonio “Sonny” Trillanes IV, a retired Navy officer who is also under Robredo’s senatorial slate, noted that such allegations are pure propaganda born out of desperation.
“Wala silang mahanap sa aming kandidato na si VP Leni kaya naghahanap ng ibang isyu,” he said.
Earlier, Cavite 7th district representative Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla claimed that Robredo is conspiring with the CPP-NPA, stressing that attendees to her rally in Cavite were paid or members of communist groups. Senator and presidential aspirant Panfilo Lacson also said that based on intelligence reports he gathered, members of the CPP-NPA were present during Robredo’s Cavite rally. Ronald Espartinez
