Actor Robin Padilla was elected as the Philippine Army Multi-Sectoral Advisory Board’s (PA MSAB) Strategic Communications (StratCom) Committee Chief, in a video conference last July 30.
Padilla succeeded Atty. Alexander Lacson, and will be serving alongside StratCom Vice Chairperson Muntinlupa District Rep. Rufino Biazon.
Padilla assumed the position less than a month after joining the board on July 8. He was appointed to the board alongside Sara Duterte, daughter of President Rodrigo Duterte.
Then-Army Commanding General and currently Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief Lt. Gen. Gilbert Gapay led the oath-taking and ceremonial pinning of the Army Transformation Roadmap pin, expressing his hopes that the newly inducted officers will be able to help the military achieve its goals.
“I welcome you with gratitude, trusting in your commitment to champion the cause that is the Transformation Roadmap. Let us promote transparency, accountability, and efficiency. Let us become a world-class Army that is a source of national pride,” Gapay said in his closing speech in the video conference.
The committee’s current members include Davao de Oro 2nd District Rep. Ruwell Peter Gonzaga, HRS Media and Communications Managing Director Harold Cavite, and actor Matteo Gudacielli.
The StratCom is the PA MSAB’s arm responsible for ensuring the proper dissemination of information on the Army’s operations both within the military and between them and the general public.
“Since the conception of MSAB, you have been our long-time partners in [the] navigation to realize our goals. Throughout the years, the Board’s existence has been evident—and significant—in bridging the gap between the Army, private sector, and civil society,” Gapay said in a statement.
The advisory board is composed of figures from the government, non-government organizations, the media, and other sectors.
Padilla is also a part of the Philippine Army’s Reserve Forces and has been vocal about his support of the army.
