Education Secretary Leonor Briones on Wednesday lauded the resilience of this year’s graduating batch of students for having survived “one of the toughest times in human history.”
In her message on the graduation and moving-up ceremonies for school year 2021-2022, Briones urged the graduating students to “keep on harnessing and imparting wisdom.”
“To the class of 2022, resilience is in your blood. You have survived one of the toughest times in human history, yet still embraced education as your primary tool to success. I believe that with your passion and purpose, you can reach your dreams and change the world,” the outgoing Department of Education (DepEd) secretary said.
The DepEd has allowed schools in low-alert-level areas to conduct in-person graduation rites amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
Earlier this week, Briones said her department was expecting schools to have a full implementation of face-to-face classes next school year.
As of May 26, 34,238 schools have been nominated for F2F classes, of which 33,000 were public schools and 1,174 were private schools.
Public school classes for school year 2022-2023 are scheduled to begin on Aug. 22. John Ezekiel J. Hirro
