A record-high 91 percent of Filipinos are worried about themselves or their families getting Covid-19, results of a Social Weather Stations survey showed.

“The latest percentage of those worried about catching Covid-19 is 4 points above the 87 percent (correctly rounded) in June 2021 and ties the record-high level reached in November 2020,” the SWS said.

The pollster said “worry about catching Covid-19 is much greater than worries about catching previous viruses such as Ebola, swine flu, bird flu and severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS).”

More Filipinos also feared that the “worst is yet to come.”

“The September 2021 survey also found those fearing ‘the worst is yet to come’ with the Covid-19 crisis rising from 39 percent in June 2021 to a record-high 60 percent in September 2021,” the SWS said.

It surpassed the previous reading of 57 percent recorded in July 2020.

The survey was conducted from Sept. 12 to 16, 2021. It had 1,200 responding adult Filipinos.

The Philippines saw a single-day high of 26,303 Covid-19 cases on Sept. 11.

The country has been recording lower daily Covid-19 cases in recent days, which government officials have attributed to increasing vaccination numbers.

It has tallied 2,690,455 Covid-19 cases as of Oct. 13.
