Rains in Zamboanga City since Sunday night damaged agricultural crops estimated to be worth P2.8 million.

A low pressure area brought heavy rains and flash floods on rice and other agricultural crops in the city’s districts.

The City Agricultural Office initially estimated that 75 hectares of rice fields in the Culianan District suffered from the harsh weather.

The heavy rains also bought flooding on city streets and even damaged many houses on stilts.

Some trees were uprooted, which brought about power interruption in many parts of the city.

Mayor Beng Climaco advised the public to be vigilant while further damage assessment was being undertaken. Jojo Mangahis
