Quezon Province reported nine more fatalities due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), pushing its death toll to 736.

The Integrated Provincial Health Office reported that Candelaria town reported three deaths; Lucena City and Sariaya with two each; and Atimonan and Unisan towns with one each. 

Lucena City, the capital of  the province, posted the total highest number of fatalities at 137. The city was placed under a general community quarantine with heightened restriction status until July 31.

The province has recorded a total of 67 deaths for this month alone. 

Quezon has been posting a downward trend of Covid-19 active cases. The whole province is still under the modified general community quarantine status until the end of the month.

From 937 active Covid-19 cases on July 1, it decreased to 732, as of the latest tally. Eleven of the 41 municipalities in Quezon have no recorded Covid-19 infections, according to IPHO.

The areas considered as Covid-19-free are San Francisco, General Nakar, Agdangan, Mulanay, Real and the island towns of Jomalig, Panukulan, Patnanungan, Burdeos, Quezon and Polillo.

Quezon Province has recorded 16,381 Covid-19 infections and 14,913 recoveries. Ronald Espartinez
