The Department of Education (DepEd) has given teachers the choice not to report on-site from May 2 to 13 due to the local and national elections.

Education Secretary Leonor Briones approved via a joint Execom-Mancom meeting the proposal of the regional directors and division superintendents to allow teachers to work from home during the said dates.

The DepEd added that there are over 640,000 teachers who will serve in the elections.

One of the reasons for this work arrangement was because teachers set to serve on May 9 are preparing for election-related activities due to their schools serving as official polling places.

The DepEd statement added that teachers who will not participate in the elections shall still work, such as the accomplishment of school forms, preparation of instructional materials, preparation of learning plans, and the evaluation of students’ outputs during the period. Ronald Espartinez
