The Philippine National Police (PNP) started its investigation into the recent mass gathering involving presidential spokesperson Harry Roque in Cebu on November 27, according to PNP Chief Debold Sinas.

Sinas said that the PNP is about to submit its recommendation on the issue to Interior Secretary Eduardo Año.

Roque delivered a speech in Cebu for the opening of the Bantayan Island Airport amidst the existing protocol of not holding any mass gatherings. However, Roque said that he was surprised by the number of people who attended the event.

The presidential spokesperson said that he is welcome to any investigation on the incident and “to confirm that he was a mere guest.” RJ Espartinez
