Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Police General Debold Sinas debunked allegations that the police force is giving special attention to the Christine Dacera case.
Sinas explained during his press conference that the PNP just extended help as Dacera’s colleagues in the Philippine Airlines wanted to see her for the last time. The family was also not able to secure a place for the last viewing which is why the PNP allowed the remains of Dacera to be placed at Camp Crame with security.
“Actually wala namang VIP treatment, ‘yung dito nag-offer kami ng space kasi nga ‘yung PAL employees, gusto nilang dumalaw before dalhin ‘yung cadaver ni Ms. Christine sa Gen San [General Santos City] ay wala po silang makuhang lugar,” he said.
“At least it helps them at tumutulong naman kami,” he added.
Sinas cleared that the PNP only allowed the viewing for two hours.
Meanwhile, Dacera’s burial security was provided by her mother, Sharon, who has existing connections with the police and the military since she’s a military reservist.
“As to the security doon, ‘yung mother po kasi ni Christine is a reservist AFP personnel… she is friendly to both the AFP and the PNP. Marami po siyang kaibigan sa lugar nila. It is just fitting siguro na siyempre kaibigan mo, pupunta ka doon. Hindi naman namin sila pinagbawal at di rin namin sinabi na magpunta sila doon,” Sinas said.
Investigation on the death of Dacera is ongoing. Her family strongly believes that the former flight attendant was raped and drugged.
Earlier, the Makati City Prosecutor’s Office ordered the release of Dacera’s friends who were tagged as suspects. According to the city prosecutor’s office, the evidence submitted by law enforcers was not enough to prove that the former flight attendant was really drugged and raped. Ronald dela Cruz
